Welcome to the First Baptist Church of Hockley, Virginia. First Baptist Church began its life in 1865, several months after the Civil War concluded. Four years later, in July of 1869 a new Church was born. First Baptist Church has been a Church for over 154 years; we are now working extremely hard at being a “Christian Family.”
All of our energies, efforts, and goals are directed into becoming a “Church Family,” progressively striving for the advancement of our Lord’s Kingdom, while building a Christian loving community.

We believe in preparing the worshipper to be able to conquer life’s challenging problems in a positive manner, while holding true to virtue and moral values.
First Baptist Church of Hockley must meet the mandate championed by our Risen Lord. We preach the gospel to the poor, deliverance to the captives, heal the brokenhearted, give spiritual sight to the blind, set free the oppressed and make the world aware that now is the time to choose Jesus Christ as your personal Savior.
We are a Church Family who believes in a wholelistic approach to our members. We stress the values of good spiritual health, as well as good physical fitness. As for our spiritual health is concerned, we provide Church School Classes for all ages, with two adult Classes. Bible Study each Wednesday evening for all ages. Our Youth experience Youth Church, exclusively for our young, two Sundays each month. We are youth orientated, by Constitution. Our Constitution mandates that a Youth must be on every Board and Committee of the Church. The proof of our concern for Youth can be found in the nine Youth auxiliary organizations of First Baptist. When it comes to physical fitness, aerobics classes are provided twice a week, for all ages, and conducted by professional and competent instructors, who stress a nutritional diet and exercise. We furnish workshops for healthy nutritional choices, high blood and cholesterol screening, and diabetes education. We consider our “Mature Christians,” one of our most valuable resources. First Baptist provides a plethora of activities for our Mature Christians. The Golden Circle is the prime auxiliary that sponsors the most activities for those members over the age of 50. Workshops, meals, social and cultural outings, health screenings and worships services are just a few of the opportunities provided for our mature Christians.
Our 22 Church Auxiliaries exist for the purpose of giving our members chances to use their God given talents and gifts for the edification of the Body of Christ, while further developing their self worth.
